The man who police were looking for after he killed NASCAR driver Bobby East in California with a knife has been killed by a SWAT team in Anaheim, police say.
Trent William Millsap, who was 27 years old, was shot and killed on Friday, July 15, as a SWAT team was carrying out a search warrant. No officers were hurt, but a police K-9 got one bullet wound that was not life-threatening. Millsap was known to stay in motels in Westminster, Garden Grove, and Anaheim, according to the Westminster Police Department.

Robert John East, who was better known as Bobby East, was killed last week at a gas station in Southern California. The Westminster Police Department said that when officers were called to a 76 gas station because someone had been stabbed, they found East on the ground with a “serious stab wound to the chest area.” He was taken to a nearby hospital, but no one could save him. Westminister Police said in a statement, “Officers tried to save the man’s life until OCFA paramedics arrived and took him to a local trauma center, where he died from his injuries.”
Millsap is said to have left the area after being stabbed. At the time, the police said that the suspect should be thought of as dangerous and armed. During the execution of the warrant on Friday, Millsap “became hostile toward officers, and a police K-9 was used,” police said. “After that, there was a shooting involving an officer,” they said. Millsap was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were too much for him to handle. The Westminster Police Department said that it, the Orange County District Attorney’s office, and the Department of Justice are all looking into the shooting.
The attack on East is still being looked into, and no reason has been found yet. East, who is 37 years old, has won the United States Auto Club National Championship three times. In 2001, when he was 16, he won the USAC National Midget event at the Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana. This made him the youngest United States Auto Club feature winner ever. “Bobby East died on Wednesday night. He was one of the best drivers of his time and a three-time USAC Silver Crown and Midget National Champion. He was only 37 at the time, “USAC Racing said in a tweet.
What happened to Trent William Millsap?
ABC News reported that police said Trent William Millsap was a homeless man on parole for armed robbery and had a warrant out for his arrest for a different parole violation. He is also accused of stabbing another person at the 76 gas station before killing East.
Rosa, Millsap’s sister, wrote on Facebook that her brother had died. It’s not clear, though, if she knew what happened when he died. “I’m writing this with a heavy heart because my brother died last night. I still can’t believe he’s gone. As we get ready for this hard trip, please send us your thoughts. I love you so much Bro,” Rosa Yolanda Millsap was the author.
