Who is Susan Abigail Sarandon?

Susan Abigail Sarandon is an actress and activist from America. She is the winner of numerous accolades, which include a BAFTA Award, a SAG Award, and an Academy Award. She has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, nine Golden Globe Awards, and six Primetime Emmy Awards.  Nearly four times, she was nominated for an Academy Award in the 1990s. She was nominated for the movies Thelma & Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil, and The Client. At last, she won the Award in 1995 for the movie Dead Man Walking. In that, she played her sister, Helen Prejean.

But she kept the surname Sarandon as her stage name. Sarandon dated filmmaker Franco Amurri, with whom she had a daughter, Eva Amurri. She has two sons with actor Tim Robbins. They are Jack Henry and Miles Robbins. Tim Robbins is an actor, with whom he split in 2009.

Sarandon was born in Queens in New York City. Sarandon is the eldest child of nine children of Lenora Marie and Phillip Leslie Tomalin. Phillip Leslie Tomalin was an advertising executive, one-time nightclub singer and television producer. She has four brothers: Phillip Leslie Jr., Terry Timothy, and O’Brian. She has four sisters: Meredith, Bonnie Priscilla, Melissa, and Amanda. Her father hails from English, Irish, and Welsh ancestry. Her mother is of Italian Descendant. Her mother’s ancestors are from regions of Tuscany and Sicily.  

Susan Sarandon Career

In 1969, Sarandon attended the casting call for the motion-picture Joe with her first husband Chris Sarandon. She acted in the major role of the disaffected teen, who vanishes into the seedy underworld. She played the role of Patrice Kahlman and Sarah Fairbanks in the soap operas A World Apart and Search for Tomorrow. She played a major role in The Rocky Picture Show. She was the female lead in The Great Waldo Pepper opposite Robert Redford. She was twice by Louis Malle in Pretty Baby and Atlantic City. Sarandon won her first Academy Award Nomination for the Atlantic City.

Saradon started her career through the movie Joe. She appeared in the soap opera A World Apart. In 1974, she acted as Zelda Fitzgerald in the movie  F. Scott Fitzgerald and ‘The Last of the Belles’.
