Recently, a Cleveland firefighter got suspended by the department, and that too without being paid after he got arrested in Lake County last week. As per the police statement, the 25 years old, Kevin McCarthy was nabbed by the cops and was taken by Willoughby police custody on Thursday just after 10 p.m. In a 9-1-1 audio (call recording) the firefighter was heard saying ” I just accidentally discharged a firearm and I accidentally shot my roommate”. Followed by the call cops rushed to McCarthy’s residence, Willogrove Apartments, located in the 37300 block of Grove Avenue.
When the cops reached the spot they found McCarthy sitting down on his knees with his hands behind his back, later he was taken into custody for further interrogation. His roommate, identified as 25-year-old Christian Kilburg, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. According to the reports it recently got official that McCarthy has been charged with voluntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree. The incident took place on Sunday while on Monday the Cleveland Division of Fire announced that McCarthy had been suspended without pay. As per the sources, McCarthy was hired by the Cleveland Fire Department in 2021. He had most recently been assigned to engine 41.
