Chyna was discovered dead at her home in Redondo Beach, California, on April 20, 2016. Her manager Anthony Anzaldo was worried when she did not post updates to her usual social media outlets for many days and later found her body in her apartment.
Initially, the police reports said that she appeared to have died of either an accidental drug overdose or natural causes. Anthony suggested that any overdose was accidental, claiming that Chyna was prescribed drugs but tended to use them improperly.

A report of Chyna’s autopsy was released in December 2016, which determined that she passed away on April 17 from an overdose of alcohol, combined with the anxiety drugs diazepam and nordazepam, sleeping aid, temazepam, and painkillers oxycodone and oxymorphone. Chyna’s toxicology tests showed that the wrestler had taken a mix of alcohol along with Diazepam. Painkillers Oxycodone and Oxymorphone were also found. Together with the muscle relaxant Nordiazepam and sleeping pill Temazepam, it made for a deadly mix in Chyna’s system.
The report shows that state police had found a nightstand in her bedroom that had many prescription medications. There were also loose pills on the floor of her bedroom and dining table. In Chyna’s last update on social media, she posted a selfie on April 17 on Instagram, wishing her followers a happy Sunday.
