A great tragedy hits the Crawford family after Justin Crawford’s death. This one was untimely and unexpected, which has resulted in Twitter and other social media platforms flooding with condolence messages.
William Adams writes, “Sadly we see another death of a young former sports man at 45 years of age.His name is former Hawthorn player Justin Crawford younger brother of Brownlow medalist Shane who also played for Hawthorn. No cause given. One has to wonder what the World Statistics for these deaths are.”
Prior to the 1994 AFL draft, the Swans recruited Justin, who was two years younger than his brother Shane, from Finley via Tocumwal in the Murray Football League as a New South Wales zone selection player.

He was a young midfielder who made his Swans debut in Round 3 of the 1995 season in a 104-99 loss to Brisbane at the Gabba. He recorded 11 disposals in the game.
After going on to play ten games in his rookie year, Justin was nominated for a Rising Star award for his 26 disposals and two goals in Round 19’s 170-44 Swans victory over Fitzroy.
In his first season with Hawthorn, Crawford, who played alongside his older brother, appeared in 15 games and scored 17 goals.
In his second season with the Hawks, he played a further 14 games, but he unexpectedly declined the offer of a two-year extension and quit football at the age of 21, citing a desire to travel.
He eventually made a comeback to the game in 2005, when he played for South Fremantle in the WAFL.

Did Justin Crawford Die Of Suicide?
Even though rumors of the Afl player’s suicide are going strong on social media, they do not seem to have any truth. It is just another buzz before the cause of death surfaces web.
The news was broken by the elder Crawford, who mentioned that his family was grieving his brother passing away to the Herald Sun. However, he chose to stay quiet on the cause of death. Similarly, none of the condolence tweets tend to reveal it nor address the suicide rumors.

Apart from his professional endeavors, very little is known about his personal life. Justin’s partner and immediate family are probably mourning the demise. However, besides his elder brother, no one has actually come into the media.
On the other hand, Shane is happily married to his wife, Olivia Anderson.
