Southwest of Indianapolis, in a pond, were found the bodies of a father and his three young children who went missing last week after embarking on a fishing excursion.
The children’s bodies were discovered inside a car that was submerged in water on the 2900 block of Bluff Road just after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a news statement from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the identities of the victims, Kyle Moorman, 27, and his three children Kyle Moorman II, 5, Kyannah Holland, 2, and Kyran Holland, 1 year old.
Police did not immediately publicize the victims’ names after the bodies were discovered; instead, they said in a news release that there was “a connection” between the remains and the four missing individuals.

On the south side of the Indianapolis pond, where Kyle frequently goes night fishing, the remains of Kyle Moorman and his three children were found. Kyle Moorman, 27, his three children, Kyle Moorman II, 5, and Kyran Holland, 1, were last seen on July 6, 2022.
At 7:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Kyle Moorman’s body was found in a pond close to Bluff Road and Troy Avenue, tragically ending the week-long search for the missing family.
Detectives are working to ascertain what exactly happened to cause this catastrophe. Officers and a dive team were sent to the pond on Tuesday night in response to reports of a dead person in the water.
Moorman had told his family that he planned to take his kids fishing at the pond when he was last seen on July 6 at his brother’s house. Moorman’s sister, Mariah Moorman, reported that her brother’s phone was last seen near the pond on July 7 at around 12:40 a.m., a few hours after he was last heard from.
Family members and friends searched the pond and the surrounding area around Bluff Road and West Troy Avenue for several days before the remains were found.

Kyle’s wife hasn’t appeared in the media, but Kyle’s mother and other family members have. William Muse, a relative of Kyle Moorman’s mother, criticized investigators on Tuesday, saying he and other family members were frustrated they hadn’t looked into the pond right away after the father and his children vanished.
The relatives and friends of the Moormans had offered a reward of $10,000 for information leading to their whereabouts. They scoured the pond and its surroundings for days. Volunteers also used a personal boat and a private helicopter to search the area.
Some had already begun to weep as they gathered on Bluff Road to see dive teams enter the sea. Eventually, a large tow truck arrived and retrieved a car from the water.
Members of the Department of Natural Resources and the Indianapolis Fire Department Dive Team used sonar technology to locate the car, a black Saab.

The last time anyone saw Kyle Moorman and his kids was on July 6, 2022. In an effort to locate Kyle Moorman and his children, police searched the area on foot and with a drone.
Late on Tuesday, several members of Kyle Moorman’s family arrived at the pond while others drove there. As the investigation into how they died moves forward, many who knew Kyle Moorman are coming out about how much the man and his children meant to them.
Bailey said more details on the circumstances surrounding the fatalities will be provided as the investigation continues in response to a query about why dive teams had not earlier on Wednesday peered into the pond. According to Bailey, detectives will continue to gather information near the location of the remains.
