Michael Brophy, St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band Maynooth Obituary, Death Cause: Michael ‘Mick’ Brophy has passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was 85-year-old. The circumstances surrounding his death has not been made public at the time of this publication.
He was an accomplished musician who played both saxophone and fiddle and was often found during breaks in rehearsals reeling off Irish jigs on the sax and smiling away. He was a true Gentleman loved by every member of the Band. Mick also helped the Band financially by waiving his commission on the Band’s Insurance which he organized through his company Brophy Insurances. His health had deteriorated over the past few years.
