Kieron Dyer, the manager of Ipswich Town’s U23 team, has been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis.
He has now a liver transplant after being diagnosed with the uncommon condition PSC.
Kieron Courtney Dyer is a former professional footballer from England who played midfield. He was most recently the manager of Ipswich Town’s U23s.
Dyer, born in Ipswich, played youth football for Ipswich Town before making almost 100 league appearances for the club’s main squad. He was transferred for £6 million to Newcastle United, which was the most significant amount ever paid for an Ipswich player at the time.
On October 26, 2020, Ipswich announced that Dyer would be returning to the club as the head coach of the club’s under-23 squad. On March 21, 2022, Dyer abruptly resigned from the position.

Kieron Dyer’s greatest fears came true when he learned that he needed a liver transplant. Dyer boldly revealed his battle with severe sclerosing cholangitis only a few weeks after covering Newcastle’s match against Tottenham as a commentator in October.
The bile ducts inside including outside the liver become polluted, scarred, and eventually limited or clogged, leading to liver disease.

Dyer has also been on the donor list since January and maybe less than an hour, a half away from Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge at any time for the 10-hour treatment that might alter his life.
Dyer was forced to withdraw due to a collapsed lung, for which he was sent to the hospital in October. Ipswich Town revealed on October 31 that he had been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis and will need a liver transplant after a battery of hospital tests.

Kieron Dyer Health Update 2022 After Liver Transpalant
Till today there is no medication that can stop or slow down Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis degeneration; as Kieron Dyer discovered, the only option is a liver transplant.
Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis is an uncommon, long-term liver condition in which inflammation and scarring cause the bile ducts inside along with outside the liver to constrict.

Because the etiology of PSC is unknown, there is no way to avoid it. According to the British Liver Trust, there is evidence that a Nobel bacterium or virus may cause it in persons genetically susceptible to the condition.

Dyer returned to Ipswich as an academy coach after he departed from Middlesbrough. He revealed that he has returned to first-team training at the end of the 2012–13 season.
He was rumored to be returning to Ipswich in the local newspaper, but he was not granted a contract and eventually retired from playing. However, he stayed with the club as an academy coach.
