20-year-old Carter Payne was killed in a hit-and-run in Georgia, after an electric scooter he was driving was struck by a vehicle whose driver left the scene on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Payne was playing for Tormenta FC 2′s 2022 USL League Two team in Statesboro, Georgia. He was a former University of Michigan men’s soccer player, and Barça Residency Academy graduate.
