Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai, a mixed doubles team, had a lot to celebrate after advancing quickly to the Singapore Open semifinals. In today’s quarterfinals, the world No. 15 pair defeated Hong Kong’s fourth-seeded duo Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet 22-20, 16-21, 21-18. Despite a promising beginning, Soon Huat-Shevon didn’t have it easy. After levelling the match by winning second set and leading the decider set 17-12, Chun Man-Ying Suet appeared to be coasting. However, Huat-Shevon quickly shown incredible determination and grit as they persisted in mounting a comeback to secure the victory in 54 minutes.

For Hoo Pang Ron-Toh See Wei and Chen Tang Jie-Valeree Siow, it was the end of the journey, though. Guo Xingwa-Zhang Shuxian of China defeated Pang Ron-See Wei 21-16, 21-14, showing how outmatched they were. Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai Thaand, the world’s No. 2 team, defeated Tang Jie-Valeree in a 21-10, 22-20 setback.
