Aidan Moffat From Sligo Died at 41 – His Auctioneer Body Was Found At Home

Moffat’s body was removed from the house and transported to University Hospital Sligo, where the State Pathologist will perform a post mortem.

Aidan Moffat from Sligo was a 41-year-old local auctioneer from Sligo, Ireland. Aidan was also a Fine Gael activist.

Police authorities are looking into whether the murder was motivated by hatred and whether Aidan met his assailant online.

Around 8.30 pm on Monday, emergency services were called to the scene at Cartron Heights in Co Sligo, where they made the horrifying discovery.

Moffat’s body was discovered inside the house with “significant physical injuries.”
The remains were mutilated, with horrific neck injuries, according to reports.

On Tuesday afternoon, the body was removed from the house and transported to University Hospital Sligo for a post-mortem examination.

The vicious killing shocked and stunned the single man’s neighbors.

Mr. Moffitt was a well-known local businessman. He ran an auctioneering business and gave mortgage and pension advice.

Aidan Moffat was a 41-year-old living single in his house in Sligo. There have been no reports of other family members inside the house.

Moffitt was a Fine Gael activist who had previously campaigned alongside Frank Feighan, Sligo-Leitrim TD.

Garda forensic officers spent Tuesday combing the area for clues and say they’re looking into two specific leads.

In an update on Tuesday night, a Garda spokesperson said, “Gardai are actively investigating whether there is any hate-related motive to this murder.”

He added, “Gardai are also looking into whether the deceased met his attacker online.”
Gardai issued the following advice to the public when speaking with or intending to meet up with people they met online.

“Investigating gardai are appealing for anyone in Cartron Heights or the general Cartron area on the afternoon of Monday, April 11, 2022, up to 8.30 pm and saw anything that drew their attention, to contact investigating gardai,” a spokesperson said.

The mayor of Sligo, councilor Arthur Gibbons, who was Aidan’s neighbor, said that there was a dark cloud over the residential area and that residents were upset and anxious.
