Shepherd Book Finally Gets a Backstory!

Ever wondered what Shepherd Book’s life was like before he joined Captain Mal and crew on Serenity? All of your questions will be answered in Serenity: The Shepherd’s Tale, a new Firefly graphic novel from Dark Horse.

Similar to Serenity: Float Out, which explored the backstory of wisecracking pilot Hoban “Wash” Washburn, The Shepherd’s Tale will offer a new story about the mysterious preacherman played by Ron Glass in Joss Whedon’s awesome (but short-lived) series, Firefly and its movie spinoff, Serenity. Whedon and his brother Zack, who’s also writing Dark Horse’s awesome Terminator 1984 series, penned the book, which is available for pre-order now.

Eliza Dushku: ‘Dollhouse Was A Deep, Dark And Powerful Show’

Unnofficial Dollhouse week continues here at TV DeathRay! Seriously, we loved the show, but we didn’t exactly plan on going “all Dollhouse all the time” this week! But the Internet refuses to stop bleeding love for Joss Whedon’s last TV mindfrak, and we’re following suit. First, we posted a brilliant music video starring Fran Kranz, and now we’re a pointing you to a new interview with series star Eliza Dushku.

Dushku, who guest stars on The Big Bang Theory on Nov. 4, talked to our pals at TV Squad about the final season of Dollhouse, her love for Joss Whedon’s brain, and her future plans. Here’s how she responded when asked if it was difficult working on Dollhouse under the constant threat of cancelation:

… We seized the day every chance that we had. We just took the approach of “game on, let’s give it everything we have” while we have the stage, go even darker and deeper, and really challenge the people that have followed us this far. It was such a deep and dark powerful show to be a part of and we’re really proud of what we did. Regardless of people that didn’t get a chance to catch it while it was on.

Attention ‘Dollhouse’ Fans: Meet Fran Kranz’s Robot Girlfriends!

Some of the most memorable moments of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse featured Fran Kranz’s mad genius Topher Brink spewing technobable and hurling thinly-veiled insults at his friends and frenemies. Sadly, Dollhouse and Topher are no more, but you can check out Kranz and a pair of cute robo-girls starring in a marvelous new(ish) video for the song ‘Remains’ by two of the show’s key writers, Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon (Tancharoen plays the robots). Stream the clip below and enjoy, Dollhouse/Whedon/Kranz junkies:

Now wasn’t that special? This thing has apparently been out since last year, but we only came across it this week. The clip is directed by Anton King. You can download the track at Amazon.
