- The premiere ep of the new FX dramedy Terriers, starring Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James, didn’t fare very well in the ratings race this week. Too bad, it looks like a good show. [Deadline]

Morning Blast: Jim Parsons, ‘The Walking Dead,’ Sam Raimi, ‘True Blood,’ and More

Lookin’ for a quick dose of nerd TV news to spice up your breakfast? We’ve got ya covered …

- CNN says Jim Parsons is the hottest geek on the web. (Apparently they’ve never met Felicia Day, Chris Hardwick or Mr. Wil Wheaton.) CultureMap.com, a site from Parsons’ hometown of Houston, says he’s “up there with Beyonce and Lady Gaga,” and fans recently made him an international trending topic on Twitter — not bad for a guy who doesn’t tweet. He’s also inspired a site that sells the many geek-themed T-shirts he wears on The Big Bang Theory (my fav is ‘The Wesley Crushers’ T). [CNN]

- Kristen Bell is trying to drum up support online for a Veronica Mars movie again. Couldn’t hurt to join the Facebook group. [Vulture]

- Bryan Cranston, the greatest entertainer of the right now, will host Saturday Night Live on Oct. 2. [THR]

- Speaking of great entertainers, vegan police squad member Thomas Jane is campaigning for a guest spot on The Walking Dead. [IGN]

- Sam Raimi is producing a show for CBS called Lancaster about a Scotland Yard detective who joins the LAPD. [Deadline]

Morning Blast: George Takei on ‘Big Bang,’ Plus ‘Caprica,’ ‘Chuck,’ and more

Lookin’ for a quick dose of nerdy TV news to spice up your breakfast? We’ve got ya covered …

- Wow! I never thought I would envy Howard Wolowitz, but oh how things have changed now that major sci-fi TV icons are lining up to hang with him. Star Trek‘s OG Sulu, George Takei, just signed to guest star on The Big Bang Theory this season. He’ll appear alongside Battlestar Galactica vet Katee Sackhoff as one half of Wolowitz’s conscience. Producers are also trying to get Evil Wil Wheaton back on the show. Sounds like a good year for the Big Bang. [TV Squad]

- Caprica returns to Syfy to wrap up the second half of its first season in January, but the network is still unsure if season two is in the cards. [Fancast]

- Here’s some better news: AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a second season! The show premieres Halloween night. [IGN]

- Check out the first pics from the Chuck season four premiere featuring Linda Hamilton as Chuck’s big momma. [Spoiler TV]

Morning Blast: ‘Dexter,’ ‘Fringe,’ ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Glee,’ and more

- Long live the Dark Passenger! Michael C. Hall says that Showtime is likely to renew Dexter for a sixth season. “I don’t have the sense that there is any sense that this [is] the end of the story as we’re telling it,” he said. “I think signs point to us doing a sixth season, but it’s not official.” Plus, we get some new info on Julia Stiles’ new character. [E!]

- Eddie Izzard is heading back to TV. The UK comedian/actor/former Disco Boy has joined the cast of Showtime’s United States of Tara. [Deadline]

- Allison Brie says she and the cast of Community are “begging for a musical episode.” Looks like there’s more Glee bashing to be done at Greendale. [E!]

- Connie Britton on the Friday Night Lights finale: “You’re going to cry your eyes out for three straight episodes at the end [of the series].” [E!]

- Faran Tahir, who played the captain of the USS Kelvin in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek and a baddie in Iron Man, guest stars on tonight’s Warehouse 13. [KSite TV]

- True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer as Doctor Doom? He knows nothing about it … maybe. [MTV]
