It’s Tuesday! Time to eyeball the week’s notable new DVD and Blu-ray releases.
- Community: The Complete First Season (DVD) – The funniest and most inventive comedy to premiere last fall promises to be even better this season. Catch up with season one’s insane paintball warfare, obsessive pottery sculpting, and chicken finger-stealing action. You won’t regret it.
- Bored to Death: The Complete First Season (DVD and Blu-ray) The Internet lied and told me this came out last week. It didn’t. But it’s out now, so check it out if you like watching Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson acting like idiots and smoking a ton of pot (How could you not?).
- Modern Family: The Complete First Season (DVD and Blu-ray) – Season one of Modern Family won me over with a string of laugh-out-loud funny episodes and its lovable, huggable Diet Arrested Development vibe.
- Human Target: The Complete First Season – (DVD and Blu-ray) This geeky action show should have been awful, but it turned out to be pretty awesome. Mark Valley leads a cast that includes TV vet Chi McBride and a scene-stealing Jackie Earle Haley as creepy/cuddly killer Guerrero.
- 30 Rock: Season Four (DVD) – 30 Rock is still one of the best and smartest shows on TV. Season four finds Liz Lemmon dealing with talk show stardom, meeting a sick and twisted James Franco and finding the man of her dreams, Matt Damon.
- How I Met Your Mother: Season Five (DVD) – I’m told that the mother still hasn’t shown up, and that Ted continues his spiral down the dark pit of douche-baggery. So, yeah, this one’s your call.
- Spartacus: Blood and Sand – The Complete First Season (DVD and Blu-ray) I expect you’ll find even more sex, nudity and violence on these discs, so enjoy Xena fans!
- Being Human: Season Two (DVD and Blu-ray) A mopey ghost, a troubled vampire and a nerdy werewolf living in the same house? What could possibly go wrong? Answer: Everything!
