Tonight’s live episode of 30 Rock (Eastern) was a fast-paced and funny ride, and the story fit pretty well within the context of the entire series. It was definitely different – the cinematic look was gone and the energy level was cranked way up to 11 (“like a Mexican soap opera”) – but it still felt like 30 Rock.
Remember last season when people were dogging the show and sites like Slate were publishing articles about a 30 Rock/Tina Fey backlash? I never got that. And I’m sure the same group of critics/bloggos/Interweb culturistas are gonna dog this ep too. Whatever. I had a blast watching the live broadcast — it was like getting caught up in a campy but brilliant stage show.
